How to read greyhound form

Greyhound form figures work like thoroughbred form — read right to left, most recent last — but times matter more. A dog that ran 29.80 at Wentworth Park is a different proposition to one that ran 30.40, and most form guides show each dog's best recent time at the track and distance. Early speed (the first 200m sectional) predicts where a dog will settle: railers want boxes 1–2, wide runners need enough pace to cross without using too much energy.

Watch the market: greyhound pools are smaller than thoroughbred ones, so a single large bet moves prices sharply — late drifts and firmers are more meaningful signals than at the gallops. Box draws are re-sorted by seeding at most tracks, meaning favourites aren't automatically handed the rails, and the inside boxes win disproportionately at tight circuits like Richmond and Dapto.

For exotic players, greyhound quaddies and First Fours offer regular four-figure dividends at modest ticket costs — and our quaddie tips page covers today's legs with tipped runners in each.
