Immortal champion
Trained by Ciaron Maher & David Eustace
Gold Trip won the 2022 Melbourne Cup at $17, giving Ciaron Maher and David Eustace their first Cup and Mark Zahra his second ride in the famous race.
The French-bred stayer had chased the race for years before breaking through, a reminder that the Cup rewards patience as much as talent. His win continued the modern dominance of European-bred stayers.
