About Armidale
Armidale Race Club, on the New England Tablelands at 1,000 metres above sea level, stages the Armidale Cup each autumn alongside the Kembla Classic pairing. Racing on the Tablelands has its own rhythm β horses handle the altitude and the cooler climate differently, and locals who campaign through Armidale, Glen Innes, Inverell and Walcha share form that metro form students routinely underrate.
The Armidale circuit is one of the fairest country tracks in NSW: a galloping layout with a decent run home that gives every horse its chance. The cup brings together the district's best, and because the New England trainers race each other so often, the recent-form cross-references between these meetings are unusually reliable for punters.
