Racing in Cunnamulla is raw and honest: small fields, big hearts, and horses that often travel 500 kilometres or more to get there. The tight country circuit rewards local knowledge — horses proven at Cunnamulla and neighbouring tracks carry that form with them — and the Country Cups Challenge points system means every placing counts toward a Doomben final berth.
Full Cunnamulla track guideThe Cunnamulla Cup meeting is held each October — Cunnamulla Cup Day falls on Saturday 10 October 2026. It's one of the Queensland Country Cups Challenge qualifiers, with the series final at Doomben in December.
Cunnamulla racecourse is in Cunnamulla, south-west Queensland on the Warrego River — roughly 750km west of Brisbane on the Mitchell Highway. The famous 'Cunnamulla Fella' statue stands in town.
It's a statewide series of 16 country cup qualifiers across regional Queensland. Horses accumulate series points through the qualifiers, culminating in the $200,000 Country Cups Challenge Final (1600m) at Doomben on George Moore Stakes Day — in 2026, Saturday 5 December.
