About Dubbo
Dubbo Turf Club is the hub of central-west racing, set beside the Macquarie River in the Orana region, where trainers from a huge catchment β Warren, Narromine, Trangie, Nyngan and beyond β bring their best horses for cup days. The club stages two of the inland's biggest days each year: Dubbo Cup in late September and the Dubbo Gold Cup meeting in October, both anchors of the central-west spring.
Dubbo Cup Day is a genuine bush carnival: Fashions on the Field, bookmakers in the ring, country trainers plotting metro raids and a crowd that rolls in from hundreds of kilometres around. For punters, Dubbo is a classic country form puzzle β horses often arrive with form from different tracks and states, so benchmark ratings and recent course-and-distance form do the heavy lifting.
